Daffodil Season
In daffodil season
there’s always a
reason to smile.
Look out any south-
facing window in
our house and there’s
a sea of yellow heads
nodding yes, giving
their assent to sun
and wind, to mist and
pelting rain. They wave
and bob and bend like
members of the best
dance company the
yard has ever seen,
greenery and flowers
stretching between
earth and sky, their
sheer exuberance
teaching me all
I need to know
about blossoming.
