Episode 6

Susie Marsh, professional organizer and licensed social worker with Susie’s Organization Solutions, joins ARC Podcast Host Mike Maddox to discuss Hoarding Disorder.
Hoarding is a type of mental health condition that makes it difficult for people to get rid of items – regardless of how valuable the item is. Cases can range from mild to severe.
Susie shares how this condition can greatly impact a person’s life. It can cause impairments and affect their home, school, and work environments. It can also strain relationships, especially for those living in a shared household.
Listen as Susie shares on our podcast examples of how hoarding can impact lives and what can be done to help treat this condition.
“The stuff doesn’t make them feel bad. It doesn’t judge them,” Susie said. “It doesn’t go away. People do. People go away. People judge. People do things that hurt other people. The stuff gives them comfort,” Susie says.
She reminds people that it’s important to know “you aren’t alone and others struggle as well.”
