Gentle Reminders

Opportunities Exist

Some moments feel big and overwhelming. Little reminders can help us put things back into perspective. If one of these Gentle Reminders speaks to you, we encourage you to print it out, and post in a place you frequent – the door, the fridge, the mirror, by your bed.

I Can

I can find a way to exercise.
I can find joy in today.
I can find quiet moments to read/color.
I can eat healthy.
I can take care of me.

Unplug

Carve space in your day.
Use this time to develop healthy habits.
Ask yourself, what can I do to silence the noise today?
Perhaps create an electronic free limit for yourself.
Set an alarm to turn off the phone or shut down the TV.
Carve space for reading, writing, walking, observing.

A Moment for You

Take a moment for you.
Close your eyes.
Quiet your body.
Focus on just your breath.
Remind yourself taking pauses throughout the day is part of a healthy lifestyle.

Calming Phrase

Panic strikes.
Fight or flight mode is turned on.
How can you stop the overwhelming physical and emotional reactions?
Try This: Interrupt panic by using a calming phrase (or mantra) like “this will pass” or “I am safe”.
Try to visualize a calm or safe place.
Focus on your senses in that place. What do you see? What do you smell? What do you hear?

Joy

Simple moments. A healthy meal. Quiet time outs.
Little activities each day that YOU want in YOUR day.
Perhaps it’s a cup of coffee, a moment to doodle, reading a chapter, running a warm bath, watching a movie, starting a crossword puzzle, or finding a new song.
Ask yourself – what brings me joy?
How can I add a few of these moments to my every day?
